Around the Blogosphere

February 5, 2008
It has been a few days since I last posted something. Been busy. I had a person quit a work so I am back to working nights and days.

Here are a few things going on out there which I have found interesting.

Michael Spencer aka as the Internet Monk is a busy man! Not only does he teach and do a couple of blogs, but he also does a couple of podcasts and now is joined with The Old White Guy Steve Brown at Steve Brown Etc. Michael Spencer is blogging at that site also as well as doing interviews.

Steve Brown Etc has become one of my favorite shows. A recent show featured Mike Meagher. You think you have it tough? Listen to the conditions Mike and his wife CHOSE to live in. OH! and you get three free sins for going there!
I hadn’t gone to jordoncooper.com for a while but this one caught my eye… How to download Youtube videos.

Tall Skinny Andrew Jones has this rather “cool” visual… just go and look.
I am also thinking of moving this blog to WordPress.com…. here is the link. I am running both blogs to see the difference in traffic. Let me know what you think.
I never realized that Montana was a “Catholic” state. Joe Martino has a post on this that was rather interesting.
Now, I also need some prayer. He have been evicted so that the landlord can renovate the house. He is cool and gave us three months, yet one month has gone by and still no place to move to. He said we could extend the stay if needed, yet we need to just get it done.
Also, I have been really struggling with dealing with some people (I confess that I just do not care to get into stupid debates with people who just are out to attack others) I am attempting humor to channel my anger… Let me know what you think…. the link was above.
I am also really desiring to go full time into ministry. I need prayer that God supplies our needs. I have a good job, yet it takes so much time and energy out of me… I just want to go deeper into what I see God wanting me to do. Pray that our church grows so that I can go full time as a pastor.
Also, iggyROCKS! needs support. I am getting asked by ministers from different countries for help with Grace related materials…. as well as being asked for study Bibles from students in Africa. One box i have been trying send cost me $186 just to send a two pound box. I am asking that you pray that God will not only supply the $400 to keep iggyROCKS! rocking but to also give a surplus that allows us to send these materials to these people. If you even know of a ministry that does already this let me know. Every dollar given goes directly to keeping the station going and these types of ministries.
Be blessed,
iggy

Carrying the Cross… emails from TES

December 28, 2007
TES, my beautiful wife, received a email going around. Here is the series of picture, below is the email exchange we about it. (You may need to click on it to see it better.)
From: Tes Shelton [mailto:] Sent: Monday, December 10, 2007 4:24 PM
To: iggy
Subject: RE: The Cross

Is this accurate? What is the cross that we carry? Or do we have a cross to carry?

I hate this one…

The cross we carry is two things.

One each must carry their own death and in that realize that being dead we need the Life of Christ to live… so on a small level this is true…

BUT!!!!
The other cross we carry is that we partake in Christ’s sufferings and our salvation is perfected… yet to fail in our sufferings does not mean we lose salvation, for that means it then becomes works salvation and not by Grace.

Love ya

I love you. I’m so blessed to have you as my husband. I love it that you study and think through why you believe what you believe. And, more importantly, that you let the Holy Spirit guide you and teach you His truth. I’m so proud to be your wife.

All I can say is I have a great wife!
be blessed,

How Will You respond to Homosexuality

October 10, 2007
This is a great article about how we should respond to the homosexual who knocks on your church door.

Be blessed,
iggy

One night while she was co-hosting The 700 Club, Sheila Walsh felt led to pray for homosexuals. Honoring the Holy Spirit’s prompting, she thanked God for His love for homosexuals and His desire for a relationship with them. She then invited all homosexual viewers to pray with her for salvation. When Sheila finished praying she encouraged those who had prayed with her to go to a church in their area, tell the pastor that they had asked Jesus into their heart, and say, “Sheila Walsh sent me.”

Sheila later received a letter from a gay man who had been watching the broadcast. He had asked Jesus into his heart, gone to a local church, met with the pastor, shared that he was gay and about the broadcast he saw. The pastor responded, “We don’t have room for fags in this church.” In his letter, the man shared that he was grateful to her, but that being a part of “The Church” was just not possible.

I have heard and told this story many times, but I still cringe when I think of that honest, broken, searching man who poured out his heart only to be rebuked by a pastor with a reckless tongue and un-Christlike heart. I wish I knew where to find him so I could share that all pastors and churches are not like that one and that God is not like the pastor he spoke with. Read more here (Sorry for forgetting the link)

Meeting People who read this blog.

September 3, 2007
In all honesty though it is rare, when I find someone who reads this blog I get a bit “worried”… now I know most people read me and may not comment… some do comment and say nice things… yet some say some pretty nasty things… yet…

Sometimes those who mean to “get” me do say something that I think is what I need to hear.

Today though I met a person who has been a reader for sometime. The funny thing is she and her husband have not commented… though they do read on occasion.

I think that much of her story matched ours… TES and me that is. It seems she was pregnant at the same times TES was… and that they moved a bit… much as our story.

Now the weird part… they know Dan Carter… as they are either friends with or related to Miss Sara’s (who is now Mrs. Sara Carter) mother… (I think I have that right.)

But there is more!!!!

She also knew Levi and Bethany Fuson… who knew a couple from Wyoming who knew pastor Alan Hodges who pastors Vineyard Church here in Billings.

Now… this is there it gets interesting…

Scott and Tracy (the couple who I am referring to… though I only talked to Tracy) began reading my blog and were thinking about joining me when I was doing Word of Mouth Fellowship… which I gave up to join in the Vineyard Church plant we are currently with… they had attended the former Vineyard… and when they saw TES and I were then going to Vineyard they have joined us there.

So, one Sunday… TES was talking to Tracy and Tracy suddenly stated… “Oh! You are iggy’s wife!” (And yes it was meant as a good thing! LOL!)

Now, it was fun to hear Tracy’s perspective as she told me which posts she liked the most and how she prayed for me when some began to attack me on personal levels with their attack blogs.

It is a good feeling that some of you are out there… praying and are enjoying my crazy journey.

I confess I am not always the best example… I try to be good… really… yet it seems I am still human and in need of a saviour.

Now, the purpose was and has always been to tell the story of my journey of faith in this postmodern world. I will not change that. I think though that some that are being used of Satan have distracted me from my true calling. I am not saying I will not stand up for truth, yet I do hope and ask you who read to pray that I can focus more on the calling God has on me and my family. I hope that I can focus more on teaching and encouragement and less on this pseudo “war” that some have declared on “truth”…

I have had a very interesting day… not all “good”… but still in all the “stuff” I have been hit with lately… I see God’s Hand in all and see that He is in charge and is so good to me.

Blessings,
iggy
